The Scandals of the Cross - The Solidarity Journey
“If one member suffers, all suffer together with it.” (1 Cor 12: 26). This opening line in the letter of His Holiness Pope Francis to the people of God was one which inspired us to go ahead with this topic, which is most often never addressed. The youth of today are the hope of our future. It is therefore the need of the hour to have them involved and be the change we wish to make in this world that has been torn apart due to various reasons. There are thousands of abuse victims around the world, especially those who have been abused by the ministers of the Church. These have inflicted deep wounds of pain and powerlessness not only on the victims but also on their families.
This journey of Christ on Good Friday is His journey with the victims. We are challenged as people of God to take on the pain of our brothers and sisters who are wounded in flesh and spirit. This change is impossible without the active participation of all of us. An attitude of prayer allows us to become more aware as a community and grow in the gifts of compassion, justice and reparation. This Solidarity Journey is a ‘small’ yet ‘important’ step towards this larger cause.
The prayers for this Good Friday Stations of the Cross were written by students at the Weston Jesuit School of Theology, Boston and adapted by the Parish of St Andrew, Bandra West.
